My last day driving a minivan was not a sad one. As I watched the gleeful family of six leave our cul-de-sac, the kids eagerly testing each button and power window, I breathed a sigh of relief knowing that my man-card, it’s single remaining corner hanging by a thread, had survived intact and would soon be fully restored. I marched into the kitchen and proclaimed to my wife “It’s time for a truck!”
I’ve driven an assortment of vehicles through the years and have respected the reliability and utility of them all, but the gnawing “need” for a truck was a constant presence. Fortunately, prudence took priority for most of my life and we were better for it, but finding myself in my mid-thirties and still truck-less, prudence and I made a deal, and I started my truck search.
I quickly learned that late model, low mileage trucks were not cheap, and prudence had put me on a budget, but being a deal-seeker by nature, I spent months learning the models, markets, etc. I finally decided upon, purchased, and thoroughly enjoyed my first truck (a 2012 F-150).
What’s more, I had a blast doing it. I’m a mortgage broker by day (which I thoroughly enjoy), but I decided that I could leverage my newly acquired enthusiasm for- and growing knowledge of- the truck market, along with a decade of business experience, to start this exciting side project.
And so I give you Cascade Trucks. Hopefully, you’ll have as much fun as I’m having.
